Blog

Blogs have intimidated me since the beginning of their creation. However, I am old enough now to overcome the trepidation of putting words to "paper" and letting others see them.

I am Laura. A Fifty Something Female Professional Insurance Agent, with securities licenses FINRA Series 6&63. I have my property and casualty license, but I keep it because I earned it. I do not use it but to make sure clients are aware of what they have or make them aware of what they could have. I do not believe in forcing people to believe they need what I offer. I will, however, continue to send information until they find just the "thing" to open their brain. Does that annoy some? Maybe. I do not think Gmail, Outlook, or any other email service cares. I do have a 50% open rating for my newsletter. That should tell folks there is some value in what I send out.

So why am I different? What makes me stand out? Here it is: I AM MY OWN EXAMPLE.

  • I am using my parents' insurances to care for them, I cannot live with either of them as I am married
  • I did not sell them the products they use, and I work with their advisor
  • I am the POA for my parents, my brother is my backup. He is wonderful.
  • WE lost our mother to COVID. Not because of COVID, but due to the lockdown. My bestie, mother, cheer squad of one, artist, teacher, calligrapher, MOM passed away with nurses by her side. Not family. The nurses were heroic and angelic at the same time.
  • My Father was diagnosed with moderate to severe Dementia/Alzheimer 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) after Mom had her stroke
  • I am backup care for my mother-in-law
  • I am not selling anyone; I am sharing my story, my brothers' story, my father's story
  • I AM THE EXAMPLE

The fear, anguish, frustration, loneliness, love, passion and care I experienced is a most humbling experience. Most of it I would not have been able to process, resolve or even grieve if it had not been for one thing: insurance. Money solves no problems, but it can help the process.

And THAT my friends, is what this blog is about. YOU can make better and better choices about YOUR financial life, YOUR family life, and YOUR graceful end of life.

I hope you can find something of value in my blog. And if you do not have someone to help you, know that I will. In whatever capacity I can.

I am,

Laura Roeder

We love helping families across generations with their financial planning.  But sometimes, the hardest planning we do is figuring out what to do with the “Elf on The Shelf” for 24 consecutive days. Here are some ideas.
